SEKISUI CHEMICAL recognized by CDP with double ‘A’ score for Climate Change and Water Security, and ‘A-’ score for Forests

SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (President: Keita Kato; hereinafter called "SEKISUI CHEMICAL") has been recognized for leadership in corporate transparency and performance by CDP*¹, global environmental non-profit organization, receiving “A List”, highest ranking for Climate Change and Water Security for the third consecutive year. In addition, SEKISUI CHEMICAL also received “A- List” ranking for Forests for the second consecutive year.

CDP operates the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system and assesses thousands of companies each year. In 2025, nearly 20,000 companies were scored, out of more than 22,100 reporting through CDP’s platform. Achieving an ‘A’ places SEKISUI CHEMICAL among the global leaders demonstrating comprehensive disclosure, mature environmental governance, and meaningful progress towards environmental resilience.

CDP’s scoring draws on a rigorous and independent methodology, aligned with the TCFD*²framework. It evaluates companies’ depth of reporting, understanding of environmental risks, and evidence of best practice - including ambitious target-setting and verified action. CDP maintains the world’s largest repository of environmental information and is widely relied on to guide investment and procurement decisions that support a net-zero, sustainable and earth-positive global economy.

In 2025, 640 investors with $127 trillion in assets asked CDP to collect data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities.

Under the long-term vision “Vision 2030”, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group has identified its vision statement “Innovation for the Earth”, which incorporates the Group’s commitment to drive continuous innovation as a means of supporting the basis of LIFE and continuing to create peace of mind for generations to come in order to realize a sustainable society.

In the area of resolving water risk issues, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group sets the following two goals in order to realize society with abundant access to clean water.
1. Minimize the water risk caused by the Group
The Group plans to minimize the impact of water risk on the Group in order to ensure sustainable business operation, as well as minimize the water risk caused by the Group in order to preserve biodiversity.
2. Contribute to resolving local water issues
The Group aims to generate positive return on the natural capital used in its business activities and contribute toward resolving local water issues through products to enhance sustainability and collaboration with the parties in watersheds where our sites are located.

Going forward, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group aims to realize both a sustainable society and sustainable growth of the Group itself, contribute to further solving social issues, and promote initiatives to remain a company that continues to be trusted by all of our stakeholders.

The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures was established in 2015 by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), which is an international organization that seeks to stabilize the financial system. It recommended that companies disclose information on the financial risks and opportunities related to climate change across four core elements: Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Metrics and Targets. Although the TCFD completed its mission and was disbanded in October 2023, its recommendations continue to be widely referenced by companies. The development of international standards for climate-related disclosures is currently being advanced by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
