SEKISUI CHEMICAL recognized by CDP with double ‘A’ score for Climate Change and Water Security, and ‘A-’ score for Forests

  SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (President: Keita Kato; hereinafter called "SEKISUI CHEMICAL") has been recognized for leadership in corporate transparency and performance by CDP*¹, global environmental non-profit organization, receiving “A List”, highest ranking for Climate Change and Water Security for the second consecutive year. SEKISUI CHEMICAL also received “A- List” ranking for Forests for the first time.

  Fully TCFD*² aligned, CDP holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero carbon, sustainable and resilient economy.
  More than 24,800 companies worldwide responded to FY2024 CDP. As for Japanese companies, more than 2,100 responded, including more than 70% of prime market listed companies (as of April 1, 2024).

  Under the long-term vision “Vision 2030”, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group has identified its vision statement “Innovation for the Earth”, which incorporates the Group’s commitment to drive continuous innovation as a means of supporting the basis of LIFE and continuing to create peace of mind for generations to come in order to realize a sustainable society.
  In dealing with climate change issues, the goal is to build a decarbonized society. We have set a long-term target of zero GHG emission from our business activities by 2050. Based on backcasting, we aim to reduce GHG by 50% from the 2019 level by 2030, consistent with the “1.5℃” Target.
  In the area of resolving water risk issues, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group sets the following two goals in order to realize society with abundant access to clean water.
1. Minimize the water risk caused by the Group
  The Group plans to minimize the impact of water risk on the Group in order to ensure sustainable business operation, as well as minimize the water risk caused by the Group in order to preserve biodiversity.
2. Contribute to resolving local water issues
  The Group aims to generate positive return on the natural capital used in its business activities and contribute toward resolving local water issues through products to enhance sustainability and collaboration with the parties in watersheds where our sites are located.

  Going forward, SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group aims to realize both a sustainable society and sustainable growth of the Group itself, contribute to further solving social issues, and promote initiatives to remain a company that continues to be trusted by all of our stakeholders.
