    SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. was selected as a 2020 Nadeshiko Brand by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock . This marks the fourth time SEKISUI CHEMICAL has been chosen, following its selection in fiscal years 2016, 2017, and 2019.
    SEKISUI CHEMICAL is engaged in efforts to create working environments in which diverse human resources can both flourish and feel fulfilled. As part of these efforts, in fiscal year 2007 the company began promoting female empowerment, and in fiscal year 2015 it drew up a Diversity Management Policy. The company sees female empowerment as the first step in the process of promoting diversity management across the entire SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group.

    SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. has been selected under the 2021 Health & Productivity Stock Selection Program by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange, winning recognition for the company’s excellence in health and productivity management. And SEKISUI’s 30 affiliated companies in Japan were selected as 2021 Certified Health & Productivity Management Organizations (Large Enterprise Category).
    Based on the SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group’s belief that “employees are valuable resources entrusted to the Group by society,” the Group has been actively involved in promoting employee health. The activity has taken a step forward, upgraded to a management strategy aimed at the betterment of employee health. Under the strategy, action is being taken through five initiatives to realize health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being of all employees.

    Global 100 is an index created and maintained by Canadian company, Corporate Knights Inc. It ranks major companies around the world from all sectors (8,080 companies in 2021), by looking at corporate sustainability performance from various perspectives such as environment, society, and governance (ESG), and selects the top 100 companies.
    Global 100, announced annually at the Davos Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland, was announced this year in the virtual CEO roundtable event held by Corporate Knights.
    SEKISUI CHEMICAL was recognized for achievements in multiple evaluation criteria this year, including clean revenue, clean investment, safety, and employee retention, and was ranked 51st, one of 5 companies from Japan to be selected.
    In the current medium-term management plan "Drive 2022," we have set “promoting ESG management which pursues both the sustainability of society and the sustainability of the Group, and building a corporate system that allows enhancement of corporate value” as a basic strategy. We will continue to make a greater contribution to achieving a sustainable society, and take on challenges to maintain our strong corporate presence for the next 100 years.

    SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD., announces that its High Performance Plastics Company has improved the performance of Photolec B, the UV + moisture curing adhesive used in gluing together mainly used on smartphones. This is expected to cut down the time and manpower, thus contributing to optimize production process efficiency.
    SEKISUI CHEMICAL aimed to win 15% share of the smartphone parts adhesive market by FY2022 and speed up marketing for application in other devices, chiefly in overseas markets.

    SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. has been awarded a place on the Climate Change A List and Water Security A List by the international non-profit environmental organization CDP. This is the third consecutive year that SEKISUI CHEMICAL has been awarded a place in the Climate Change A List and the first time in the Water Security A List.
    The SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group formulated “the SEKISUI Environment Sustainability Vision 2050”. In dealing with climate change issues, the goal is to build a decarbonized society, and in the area of resolving water risk issues, the Group intends to generate positive return on the natural capital used in its business activities.

    SEKISUI to Produce Synthetic Railway Sleepers (FFU) in Europe

    The Urban Infrastructure and Environmental Products Company of SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (hereinafter ”SEKISUI”) decided to open a production plant for the manufacture of synthetic wood for railway sleepers made from long glass-fiber-reinforced foamed urethane (FFU) in the Netherlands. SEKISUI produced FFU is lightweight and excellent durability. Increasing overseas market demand made it essential for SEKISUI to commit to a new production facility in the heart of Europe utilizing the infrastructure from SEKISUI ESLON B.V.
    The construction of the plant in Roermond will begin in 2021; the production itself will start in Q1/2023. This will expand its production capacity for FFU railway sleepers 1.8 times larger. And in 2030, SEKISUI aim to achieve overseas sales of 10 billion yen in the functional materials business.

    The High Performance Plastics Company has established the Minase Innovation Center (MIC) within the Research & Development Institute (constructed in 1961), its main research and development base. In the three strategic fields—electronics, mobility and building and infrastructure—of the High Performance Plastics Company, changes in telecommunications and the automobile industry such as the spread of 5G in the telecommunications industry and development of CASE including automated driving in the automobile industry have made the fusion of human resources and information in various fields necessary for producing innovation. As a base for open innovation within and outside the company, MIC has a layout that promotes the exchange of opinions with customers and interaction between employees from the respective strategic fields. The use of MIC will encourage internal and external fusion, thereby further promoting the creation of innovation that can contribute to social problem solving as well as the growth of SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group and the High Performance Plastics Company.
