SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (President: Keita Kato; hereinafter “SEKISUI CHEMICAL”) announces that it exhibited samples of film-type perovskite solar cells and explained an outline of development at the “5th CEFIA^*1 Government-Private Forum” (organized by the Indonesian Government and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) held in Bali, Indonesia on August 25, 2023.

  The “5th CEFIA Government-Private Forum” was held in conjunction with the ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) 2023 and a seminar organized by JETRO Jakarta. It was attended by the Japanese and ASEAN governments, companies, financial institutions, and other related parties. SEKISUI CHEMICAL explained the uniqueness of film-type perovskite solar cell technology in an introductory session on advanced technologies by Japanese companies. It was a great opportunity to appeal to the governments and companies of ASEAN countries.
  And a “Business Matching Event” was also co-hosted by JETRO Jakarta and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry where information was exchanged between government officials and companies from various countries.

  Film-type perovskite solar cells are a next-generation type of solar cell that are lightweight and flexible, enabling installation at various sites, such as building walls, roofs with limited load bearing, or curved surfaces. They are expected to accelerate the spread and expansion of renewable energy, greatly contributing to achieving carbon neutrality, and help to address the energy crisis from the perspective of energy self-sufficiency.

  SEKISUI CHEMICAL achieved outdoor durability of 10 years equivalent ahead of the rest of the industry through an original “sealing, film formation, materials and process technology,” creating a 30 cm-wide roll-to-roll manufacturing process. This manufacturing process has been successfully used to produce film-type perovskite solar cells with power generation efficiency of 15.0%.
  Currently, SEKISUI CHEMICAL is aiming for practical application with the establishment of a manufacturing process for 1 m-wide rolls and the further improvement of durability and power generation efficiency, and is accelerating development leveraging the Green Innovation Fund of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). In addition, for early implementation in society, we are conducting development in cooperation with various related parties such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, West Japan Railway Company, NTT DATA Corporation, and JERA Co., Inc.
