SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group was founded in March 1947 for the purpose of the comprehensive commercialization of plastics.
Thereafter, we proactively advanced into unprec-edented businesses centered on plastics-related technologies and products, including starting Japan’s first automatic plastic injection molding business, and the Group’s business has been steadily expanded.

  • 1947

    Established SEKISUI INC. in order to run a general plastic business

  • 1948

    Launched Japan’s first plastic automatic injection molding business

  • 1952

    Began full-fledged production of ESLON polyvinyl chloride pipes

  • 1958

    Began production of interlayer film for laminated

  • 1961

    Rolled out poly-pail plastic garbage bins on a nationwide basis and contributed to efforts aimed at resolving garbage-related issues

  • 1963

    Established SEKISUI PLASTICS CORPORATION, the first plant to be set up in the U.S. by a Japanese manufacturer

  • 1971

    Entered the housing business with the launch of steel frame unit housing “HEIM”

  • 1979

    Awarded the Deming Prize, the highest honor for total quality management from production to sales and service

  • 1997

    Commenced sales of housing with solar-power generation systems in earnest one step ahead of the industry

  • 2001

    Divisional company system introduced

  • 2006

    Daiichi Pure Chemicals Co., Ltd. (currently SEKISUI MEDICAL CO., LTD. a consolidated subsidiary) acquired

  • 2013

    Thailand unit housing mass production factory constructed
