Opening Ceremony for Thai Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride Plant

S and L Specialty Polymers Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called "S&L"), a joint venture between Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Teiji Koge, hereinafter called "Sekisui Chemical") and Lubrizol Advanced Materials, a subsidiary of the Lubrizol Corporation (hereinafter called "Lubrizol"), held an opening ceremony on October 2 at the Hemaraj Eastern Industrial Estate in Map Ta Phut, Rayong Province, Thailand, although the plant has been manufacturing chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) since June this year.

A total of over 100 people attended the ceremony, including not only people from both companies, starting with the management of both Sekisui Chemical and Lubrizol, but also people from local government, trading partners, and cooperating companies.

First, a Buddhist ceremony was held, and all the attendees prayed for future safe production operations and for business development.

After the Buddhist ceremony, representatives from both countries ceremonially planted the Thai national tree, "Ratchaphruek" (English name "Golden Shower").

Next, during the business ceremony, Sekisui Chemical President Koge offered the following greeting.

“Sekisui Chemical will make compounds from the CPVC resin manufactured at this new plant within Thailand to supply customers around the world with materials such as hot water pipes under the "Durastream" brand.
Sekisui Chemical's group vision is to "continue developing the frontiers of 'Creation of Housing/Social Infrastructure' and 'Chemical Solutions', utilizing its prominent technologies and quality, thereby contributing to people's lives around the world and the global environment". As per this vision, we are aiming for further growth based on cooperation with both the relevant companies and all the people of Thailand by meeting infrastructure demand centering on the newly-emerging companies of Asia through this CPVC business.”

 

To continue, Mr. Eric R. Schnur gave a greeting as representative of Lubrizol, and then Mr. Vitoon Yuutim, Assistant Director of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand offered his congratulations.

After the business ceremony ended, the venue shifted to a nearby hotel, where a lunch party was held.

Sekisui Chemical High Performance Plastics Company President Keita Kato

At the start of the party, Keita Kato(see photo on the left), Sekisui Chemical director, special executive officer, and president of the High Performance Plastics Company, offered the following greeting.

"I am delighted at the large numbers of people who have been so very kind in the construction of this new plant, and that the debut of the new CPVC resin plant went off without a hitch. Production will now begin in earnest, but I would like to make this project succeed by prioritizing safety in plant operations."
