―the 1st "Sekisui Environmental Week” Symbolic Event―
SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (President: Naofumi Negishi, hereinafter called
"Sekisui Chemical") designated August 1 to 7 this year as "Sekisui
Environmental Week", and the entire Sekisui Chemical Group got involved
in environmental contribution activities globally.
On August 1, we started
with cleaning activities around our Tokyo head quarters, and then on August
3, implemented mangrove planting activities as a symbolic event in Thailand.
Approx. 220 people participated in the planting activities, staring with the
president and including the top management as well as local Thai employees and
their families.
Mangrove Planting Activities in Thailand
This is the third continuous year that we have implemented mangrove planting
activities in Thailand.
The mangroves planted during this year's activities
will effectively reduce CO2 by approx. 260 tons in ten year's time, provided
they grow unhindered.
Date: August 3 (Sat)
Location: Near Samut Songkhram Khlong Khon Mangrove Forest Conservation Center (Approx. 90km southwest of Bangkok)
Quantity: Approx. 2,000 saplings
Participants: President Negishi, President Matsunaga, President Kouge, Managing Executive Officer Kubo, representatives and employees with their families from the locally-incorporated Sekisui Chemical Group*1, and representatives and employees from the locally-incorporated Sekisui Jushi and Sekisui Plastics group; total: approx. 220 people

Courtesy Call to the Thai Royal Family
On August 5, the core Sekisui Chemical business officers paid a courtesy
call to Princess Sirindhorn of the Thai Royal Family, and made a donation (for
1 million THB) to the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park*2.

There are Sekisui Chemical production
bases for interlayer film for laminated glass, polyolefin foam, and modular
houses in Thailand, and further, new construction of a production base for chlorinated
polyvinyl chloride is also scheduled for next year.
On the occasion of implementing environmental contribution activities on a grand scale in Thailand, where the Sekisui Chemical Group is developing a wide range of businesses, we would like to raise awareness of the environment among employees on a global level.
