Initiatives of the Sekisui Chemical GroupHeart+Action

As social contribution activities that allow easy participation by individual employees, the Sekisui Chemical Group has been implementing programs such as TABLE FOR TWO and BOOK MAGIC.In fiscal 2012, we further expanded these programs by promoting a new initiative known as Heart+Action. This program is based on activities involving international cooperation to help children and infants suffering from pediatric cancer in developing countries. People only need about an hour to take part in the one of the many programs available using their free time on “no-overtime days.” Feedback received from participants included comments such as “It was easy to take part in” and “I'm glad to have been able to contribute to society through such a simple activity.”

Moving forward, the Sekisui Chemical Group plans to continue expanding the number of participating business sites.

Programs implemented in FY2016

「Send a Picture Book」

An activity involving international cooperation in which stickers are stuck on Japanese picture books with translations of the text in languages of countries or regions where almost no children's books are published. They are then delivered to children through Education Sponsorship in Asia, a specified non-profit corporation.

I was able to participate in the “Book Magic”, “Sort the coins” and, for the second time, “Send a Picture Book” programs at the Sekisui Seikei Headquarters. Prior to the activities, the CSR Department (as of fiscal 2016) and members of the NPO gave us an introduction to the program, explaining why the children needed the picture books, a discussion focusing on lifestyle and food culture in Darjeeling, and lastly instructions on how to create a picture book. We then cut and pasted translated stickers into the Japanese portion of the picture book titles “Raja’s Curry.” We worked know this social contribution activity could bring a smile to the eyes of children in Darjeeling and the hour passed in the blink of an eye. I look forward to participating in “Send the Sounds”, the next social contribution activity.
