Sales Launch of Water Treatment Membrane Module and Unit "FILTUBE®"

-Easy to apply high-performance water treatment membrane system even for existing facilities-


SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (President: Naofumi Negishi)’s Urban Infrastructure and Environmental Products Company (President: Kozo Takami) has developed a water treatment membrane for water, sewer and industrial wastewater processing, which will go on sale on May 19 as the water treatment membrane module and unit "FILTUBE®".

"FILTUBE®" is configured with self-developed hydrophilic featured new material (polyvinyl chloride type resin) that has a larger aperture (internal diameter 4mm) than conventional hollow fiber. This achieves higher fouling resistance against filtration process with higher water permeability.

Further, "FILTUBE®" is placed into a compact module to form a unit to be installed outside of the tank, and is applicable not only for a new establishment but also for upgrading or enhancing the performance of the existing facility.


1. Background

Concomitant with the increase of the demand for water and tighter regulation on environment, the demand for higher performance on water and sewer processing as well as sever control on industrial wastewater processing are expected to increase.
We have conducted the development of water treatment membrane with high performance in water recycling, sewage and wastewater processing, with the aim to expand business and furthermore to deploy value chain business in this market.


2. "FILTUBE®" Features

Features of the Water Treatment Membrane

■Processed water quality:

Membrane pore size of 0.04µm max. (UF membrane) eliminates enteric bacteria and viruses


■Permeability performance: 

Hydraulic featured, self-developed new material achieves high filtering performance against biochemically processed water.



■Filter capability: 

Widely capable to handle quality fluctuation of raw water through filtering the raw water inside the membrane (cross-flow filtration)

Inspection and replacement are easy, since Module is installed outside the tank.
Further, the module is also compatible with automatic operations (including chemical cleaning)




■Installation space: 

Compact unit configuration saves space due to its increased capability to handle bioreactor concentration as well as elimination of sediment process. Also, it can be installed wherever is convenient.




■Upgrade compatibility:

Widely compatible with the existing facility.
Feasible to increase processing performance (water quality and volume) of the existing facility.

"FILTUBE®" unit can be installed regardless of the reaction tank depth or condition of the cover lid. Further, the water processing volume and purified water quality of existing facility can be improved without complete upgrading of all facility.

In addition, installation can be completed simply by connecting the preassembled unit to the existing facility. (Note: foundation, piping, and electric wiring work, etc. are required.)


3. Business Objectives

We will contribute for the protection of water sources both in private and public by proposing to adapt this technology in wide fields such as plant wastewater processing as well as water & sewer treatment plant that will face the necessity for upgrading in the future.

We are aiming to achieve 5 billion yen sales of this product in FY2020, and make this as a foothold to obtain   comprehensive contracted project.
