Yamashita began his career at Ricoh Co., Ltd. in 2009 after earning a master’s degree in applied chemistry from Sophia University. He initially worked in materials research and development, focusing on next-generation toner technologies and advanced materials. In 2014, he moved into new business development, where he led startup investment and strategic collaboration initiatives and helped launch a bed-sensor business.
In 2018, he joined KDDI Corporation, where he contributed to the launch of its 5G services before moving into startup investment and new business development.
He joined SEKISUI CHEMICAL’s Corporate Venture Capital team in 2022 to help create new businesses through startup investments and strategic partnerships. Since relocating to Silicon Valley in July 2024, he has led the company’s CVC activities in North America, investing in startups across mobility, housing, and construction.
In 2026, Global Corporate Venturing named him one of its Top 50 Emerging Leaders in corporate venturing.
