Realizing a Sustainable Earth
SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group's
Environment
- Contributions to improving
the global environment - We are engaged in our daily business activities with the aims of halting the deterioration of natural capital, such as by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, promoting the use of recycled use of resources, and decreasing impacts on ecosystems; contributing to making returns to natural capital through such means as expanding sales of Products to Enhance Sustainability; and achieving a world in which biodiversity is preserved.

- Responding to
Climate Change - With the "limitation of rising temperatures to 2℃ or less" in the Paris Agreement (21st Conference of Parties), we have established a medium-term plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In FY 2018, we were the world's first in the chemicals industry to receive certification in the SBT initiative.

- Realizing Resource
Recycling - We are striving to thoroughly implement the "3 Rs" (reduce, reuse, and recycle) throughout entire lifecycles. We also engage in Zero Waste Emissions Activities with the intention of reusing as resources all the waste we generate from our business activities.

-
- Reducing
Water-related Risks - We have established a midterm environment plan that positions key issues such as reducing the amount of water used, and understanding the water risk from the supply chain and the effect on the natural environment. Also, we are developing water infrastructure business including water supply, storage and drainage, and we are contributing to society not only with technology and products that contribute to the improved quality of drainage, including water treatment systems and draining pipes, but also by constructing strong water infrastructure that is both durable and disaster-resilient.

Factory production and
installation of modular houses
SEKISUI HEIM divides housing into modular units that are produced and designed in factories. Utilizing the strengths of this method of prefabricated construction, we are striving to reduce waste output and make effective use of resources by stabilizing production and increasing efficiency in every process from factory production to installation and through activities targeting zero-defect lines.

Fractal structure blinds
Airy Shade
By adopting a structure that imitates trees, an environment like the shade from a tree is artificially reproduced. The blinds themselves do not readily heat up, so the environment is pleasant even during summer. They are used as a countermeasure for heat islands in areas where people gather such as parks and schools.

Polyethylene Pipes
Eslo Hyper
This flexible and bendable polyethylene pipe is referred to as an earthquake-resistant pipe due to its resistance to damage or leakage even during earthquakes or land subsidence. Laying this piping underground helps to prepare for disasters in order to ensure water supply in emergency scenarios.

Pipeline renewal
SPR Method
Drainage pipes continue to deteriorate. The SPR method can be performed without digging up roads while continuing to drain, so old drainage pipelines can be renewed with no effect on traffic and with almost no emission of waste. This contributes to the resilience of water infrastructure.

Rainwater storage system
CROSS-WAVE
This product made from recycled plastic is laid underground to save space and is used to store rainwater. It has the characteristic of being highly porous and it enables the reuse of rainwater by regulating the amount of rainwater that flows into drainage systems and rivers during heavy rain.

High performance
interlayer film
This high performance interlayer film adds a sound and heat insulating performance to glass used in automobiles and buildings The sound insulating performance enables the use of thinner glass and achieves materials weight reduction, while the heat insulation performance efficiently controls in-vehicle and indoor rising temperatures. Both of these features lead to a reduced burden from air-conditioning and improved automobile fuel consumption, which contributes to a reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG).

Film-Type
Lithium-Ion Batteries
Sales have started for Film-Type Lithium-Ion Batteries which achieves high safety, long service life, and large capacity by means of a coating process for fixed/housing-use storage batteries. These batteries enable the effective use of renewable energy such as solar power while also ensuring a safe and stable power supply during disasters.
