2. Background to Establishment of New Aichi Factory
Over the years of its history, Sekisui Techno Molding has employed an integrated process covering product design to the design, development and manufacture of molds to supply optimum product forms and manufacturing methods to its customers in the automobile manufacturing industry. Recent years have seen a conspicuous increase in needs arising from improved fuel-consumption and low cost due to lighter car bodies and, in response to these needs, Sekisui Techno Molding Co., Ltd. has pushed forward with the development of unique technologies to develop, for example, high-enlargement expansion-molding technology for use in metal-substitute technology that makes use of high-strength resin-mold parts and in the production of lightweight large interior parts. This has given rise to the need to increase production volumes and secure new manufacturing capabilities. While so far, the organization of bases has involved the launch of the Mie Factory in 2002 following the establishment of the Oigawa Factory, the decision has recently been made to set up a new factory in Toyohashi-shi, Aichi Prefecture with the aim of enhancing support capabilities in the Tokai region, an area with a concentration of 2 and 4-wheel vehicle manufacturers. By reinforcing its organization with close ties to its customers, Sekisui Techno Molding aims to expand its auto-parts business by engaging in further joint-development undertakings with its customers.
