Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd.

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Naotake Okubo) held a tree-planting ceremony at Sekisui S-LEC (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in Suzhou city on June 6. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Sun Hao, 78th generation descendant of Sun Wu, author of Sun Tzu on The Art of War, the oldest military text in China, accompanied by his wife.

1. Memorial trees were presented by Mr. Sun Hao in gratitude for his invitation to the 60th anniversary celebrations.

Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. marked its 60th anniversary on March 3 of this year. The celebration, held on March 2, was attended by the top management of the Sekisui Group and Mr. Sun Hao was invited from China together with his family to attend. On this occasion, Sekisui Chemical was presented with two ginkgo trees by Mr. Sun Hao.

Allow me to offer both my deepest respect for the contributions in the field of chemicals made by Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. over the past 60 years and for its promotion of protection of the environment and my sincere gratitude for the invitation to attend Sekisui Chemical's 60th anniversary celebrations. The ginkgo trees I presented were taken from Shangdong province, the home of Sun Wu. In China, ginkgo trees represent long life, happiness, wisdom, and prosperity. I pray that the spirit of “Sun Tzu on the Art of War” will resonate throughout Sekisui Chemical for all eternity and that the friendship between the descendants of Sun Tzu and Sekisui Chemical will continue down through the generations.

Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. established Sekisui S-LEC (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in Suzhou city in 2004. It was on this occasion that Sekisui Chemical learned that Mr. Sun Hao, 78th generation descendant of Sun Wu, resided in Suzhou and this marked the beginning of the friendship.
