Sekisui 60th Anniversary Program

Details of "Global Children's Eco Summit" and "Manufacturing Based on Learning from Nature - Junior Forum 2007"

Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Naotake Okubo) marked its 60th anniversary on March 3 this year. The core of the "60th Anniversary Program" organized to celebrate the occasion is CSR activities based on the concepts of "Environment," "Next Generation" and "Global."

Details of the two events that form the core of the program, "Sekisui Children's Eco Summit" and "Manufacturing Based on Learning from Nature - Junior Forum 2007" are set out below.


1. Global Children's Eco Summit (not open to public application)

(1) Content
This event will consist of a discussion by children of Sekisui Group employees on common environmental issues shared by the world such as "global warming" and "biodiversity." Prior to the discussion, the participating children will be invited to attend the "Sekisui Chemical Nature Course" for the purposes of becoming acquainted with each other and studying the subject matter in advance.

(2) Participants
Applications are invited from children between the ages of 12 to 15 from 17 countries around the world whose parents are employees of the Sekisui Chemical Group. In addition, 40 children whose parents are Group employees and 30 families living in Sekisui Heim housing will be invited as discussion observers.

(3) Dates and Venue
Dates: July 29 - August 4, 2007
* Sekisui Chemical Nature Course: July 31 (Tuesday)
Venue: Yakurai Resort, Kami-gun, Miyagi Prefecture (Operated by SHR Sendai Co., Ltd., wholly-owned subsidiary of Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd.)
* Discussion: August 2 (Thursday)
Venue: U Thant International Conference Hall, United Nations University, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

(Reference: About Sekisui Chemical Nature Course)
The Sekisui Chemical Nature Course is an educational program designed to train intra-corporate leaders for nature conservation activities developed at Sekisui Chemical Group regional offices. The program was initiated in 1996 and involves the planning and implementation of events such as nature observation meetings.

2. Manufacturing Based on Learning from Nature - Junior Forum 2007 (Open to public application)

(1) Content
This is a forum divided into two parts: "Keynote Speech" and "Hands-on Lessons."
The forum is designed to provide a fun learning experience for children during the summer holiday as a form of "independent research" (summertime homework) and to cultivate an interest in fields of study such as natural science.

(2) Participants (Participation fee: free)
Applications are invited from children within the 5th year primary school - 1st year middle school age range (together with accompanying and supervising guardians and teachers): 300 applicants will be selected for participation.

Applications should be made from the homepage shown below and will be accepted from June 12 (Tuesday) 2007.

Date: Doors open at 12:30 PM August 24 (Friday), 2007. Times of forum: 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM.
Venue: Yurakucho Asahi Hall and Asahi Square (11F, Yurakucho Marion Bldg.), Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
