To achieve "diversity management," Sekisui Chemical is pursuing initiatives to promote an organization-wide cultural transformation along with working to change the attitudes of each employee.

 

Promotion SystemWe are putting in place a structure that promotes diversity management across the entire Group.

CSR Committee, Human Resources Committee

・The CSR Committee deliberates on CSR measures generally. This includes matters relating to diversity management. Chaired by the president, the CSR Committee is comprised of such senior executives as the presidents of division companies as well as representations of employees including female employees and the head of the Labor Union. Matters that require resolution are also reported to the Board of Directors.

・In addition to deliberating on Group-wide diversity management issues, the Human Resources Committee puts in place and monitors measures aimed at securing and developing the necessary personnel. While also advancing steps that enable employees to excel, the Committee continues to promote work style reform. Chaired by the managing executive officer and head of the Human Resources Department, the Human Resources Committee is comprised of executive officers and the heads of human resources departments selected from each division company.

Project to Develop a Workplace in which All Employees Can Excel

The Sekisui Chemical Group has appointed a manager to oversee the promotion of a project to develop a workplace in which all employees can excel at each of its 150 domestic bases. Each manager is working to ensure the smooth implementation of diversity management measures at each location.

 

Initiatives aimed at Group employeesDistributed the "D-Book"

The Company prepared and distributed to all domestic Sekisui Chemical Group employees an original booklet, the "D-Book" (diversity management starting today), to raise awareness among Group employees of what diversity management entails.

Improvement Activities by UnitProject to Develop a Workplace in which All Employees Can Excel

Sekisui Chemical began a program in fiscal 2016 to support managers in charge of diversity management promotion who have been dispatched at each department and Group company to build a foundation for diversity management. As a means for building a foundation for voluntarily promoting diversity at each department and Group company, we have created a network consisting of fellow managers engaged in diversity management promotion at each organization as well as mechanisms for providing mutual advice. In fiscal 2016, managers in charge of diversity management promotion at 140 domestic organizations in 61 Group companies participated in a project to develop a workplace in which all employees can excel.

Administrative InitiativesEducational Programs on Diversity Management Implementation

As a means to build an organizational foundation, Sekisui Chemical conducts training programs to enable employees to learn about management styles for manager-level administrative employees that utilize opinions gained from discussions with subordinates and foster new potential. In fiscal 2016, 1,168 individuals participated in this training program, where they learned about how to smoothly communicate with subordinates.
