Change of Company Name of Daiichi Pure Chemicals Co., Ltd.
to "Sekisui Medical Co., Ltd."

Concomitant with the integration in April next year by Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Naotake Okubo) of the medical business developed by the Medical Products Division of the High Performance Plastics Company (President: Takayoshi Matsunaga) with its wholly-owned subsidiary Daiichi Pure Chemicals Co., Ltd. (President: Mutsumi Fukuda, hereinafter referred to as Daiichi Pure Chemicals) acquired on October 2 last year, it was decided on May 17 to change the company name of the latter. Sekisui Chemical is pleased to announce that the company's new name to be adopted from April next year has been decided.

1. Aim of Integration of the Medical Products Division within the Sekisui Chemical Group and Name Change of Daiichi Pure Chemicals

1)	The medical business of the Sekisui Chemical Group will be transferred to and integrated with Daiichi Pure Chemicals as the parent body with the aim of achieving optimization of business operations.
2)	Following business integration, the new company will select the field of diagnostics as its main pillar and aspire to concentrate management resources on development, production and sales and aim at the further expansion and development of the medical business.
3)	The name of Daiichi Pure Chemicals will be changed with the goal of enhancing its presence in the medical care industry as a "Sekisui Chemical Group Medical Products Company."

2. Overview of New Company (From April 1, 2008)

1)	New company name:	SEKISUI MEDICAL CO., LTD. (present Daiichi Pure Chemicals Co., Ltd.) Logo mark:
2)	Business: Diagnostic medicines, medical equipment, manufacture and sale of medical supplies, drug discovery support, etc.
3)	President and Representative Director: Mutsumi Fukuda (Appointed in June 26, 2007, currently Director of Sekisui Chemical, General Manager of the Medical Products Division of High Performance Plastics Company, and President and Representative Director of Daiichi Pure Chemicals (concurrent)
4)	Net Sales: 35 billion yen (Based on results of FY2006)
5)	Employees: 800
6)	Capital: 1,275 million yen
7)	Stockholder: Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (100%)
