Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. Establishes Indian Import/Sales Company

In order to aggressively enter the high growth potential Indian market, on May 21st Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as 'Sekisui Chemical') opened an import/sales company for the group's products. The name of the new company is Sekisui Chemical India Private LTD. (hereinafter referred to as 'Sekisui India'). Sekisui India is the group's first company in India. Operations will begin on June 1st

In recent years, Sekisui Chemical production sites in Japan, Thailand and Australia have increased exports to India of automotive application materials such as interlayer film for automobile windshields and foam. The mission of Sekisui India will be to accelerate the development of the interlayer film and foam businesses in the Indian market. Including market research activities, Sekisui India will assist in the development of other group businesses in the Indian market as well.


1. Background of the establishment of the new company

The Sekisui Chemical Group has over 200 companies operating in 20 countries. The 2006 - 2008 Midterm Plan, GS21-Go! Frontier, identifies expansion of overseas markets as a key growth area. In Fiscal Year 2006, consolidated sales for overseas businesses exceeded 110 Billion Yen (an increase of +21% vs. Fiscal Year 2005). Our sales target for 2008 is 150 Billion Yen.
Sekisui Chemical had increased exports to India of automotive application materials such as interlayer film for automobile windshields and foam. India's automobile production exceeded 2 million cars in 2006 and phenomenal growth in automobile production is expected in the next few years. In addition, high growth is expected in non-automotive fields related to our group businesses such as medical, IT, and infrastructure.
