Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (Mitsui Chemicals) and Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. (Sekisui Chemical) have agreed that Sekisui Chemical's toner resin business (*) will be transferred to Mitsui Chemicals.
The transfer is scheduled to take place on April 1, 2007.


As one of the leading companies in the world in the manufacture and sale of toner resins, Mitsui Chemicals reinforced its global business operations structure by making its joint venture toner resin companies in America and the U.K. into wholly-owned subsidiaries, thereby centralizing its business strategy and enhancing production and SCM efficiency.

The current transfer of business from Sekisui Chemical will lead to the early realization of effects such as the developments to meet new market needs through the combination of the resin-design technologies of both companies as well as enhanced levels of customer satisfaction through the use of Mitsui Chemicals' three manufacturing and sales bases, and is aimed to further strengthen competitiveness in the business.

Sekisui Chemical has conducted its toner resin business for more than 30 years since the launch of development, and Sekisui has decided that the transfer of toner resin business to Mitsui Chemicals will enable business continuation and expansion.

In its recently compiled "Grand Design" (Framework of Mitsui Chemicals business operations), Mitsui Chemicals has set new long-term business goals representing the Mitsui Group image ("Chemicals, Innovation, Dreams" - The Mitsui Chemicals Group is constantly pursuing innovation and materializing dreams with the wonder of chemistry -) and has structured three portfolios (resin materials business, cutting-edge chemicals business, foundation chemicals business) for the purpose of realizing this image. Toner resin business is positioned among the electronic and information materials that form one of the core areas in the performance plastics business. The current business transfer will not only serve to strengthen this core area, but will also contribute to heightened growth in the field of electronics and information materials.
